Frequently Asked QuestionsBelow are some common questions you should definitely ask a DJ service you are considering for your event. While we have provided many answers here for your convenience, feel free to ask us for more details or to ask us any other questions you may have.
Q. Do you supply all of your own equipment? Yes! We supply all of our own equipment and music. We even carry buffet tables and power cables just in case your venue does not have an adequate inventory. The tables that we carry are 6' buffet tables and we can provide a standard black skirt that will match any room decor or event theme.
Q. Do you use professional equipment, or "off-the-shelf" consumer-grade equipment? We use 100% professional sound equipment ranging from Numark mixers, QSC and Crown power amplifiers, to Community and Yamaha Speakers. This is a very good question to ask, and can help you distinguish between reputable, dependable, professional mobile DJ companies such as Perfection DJs and amateur, weekend "hobbyist" DJs. While some "hobbyist" DJs might try to save a few dollars with consumer-grade equipment, professional mobile DJ companies such as Perfection DJs refuse to risk their reputation (the quality of your event) with cheap equipment which has an inferior sound and is undependable for extended commercial use. Consumer-grade equipment is also not made to stand up to the rigors of travel, the constant setup/teardown, load/unload that is a fact of life for the mobile DJ. All of our equipment is rack-mounted in ready-to-travel professional cases. Each DJ has a wireless microphone system to allow for flexibility when guests want to make a toast or a general announcement. A partial list of our equipment includes:
Q. Will our DJ have backup equipment onsite? Absolutely! Even the best equipment is no guarantee against emergencies. Back-up equipment is essential for all DJ's to have on site just in case something unforseen happens. We carry back-up amplifiers and cd players, and we have all manner of back-up speakers, mixers, and other components at our office.
Q. What if our DJ gets sick or has an accident? We always keep an unscheduled reserve Disc Jockey and backup equipment in case an unforseen emergency occurs with one of our scheduled DJs. This is an added measure of safety you gain by choosing a multi-DJ company like Perfection DJs instead of a "one-person" DJ company operator.
Q. Will you be setting up while our guests are present? Absolutely Not! When you contract with Perfection DJ's, we ensure that everything is ready with the sound equipment and venue itself. We schedule ourselves to arrive at the facility at least one hour prior to your guests arriving, so that all the sound testing, climate control, and lighting can be adjusted if necessary. Now, there are instances where there is not access to the venue an hour in advance for the DJ to set-up. We will arrive at the earliest possible time and expeditiously get the sound going for your listening pleasure.
Q. Will our DJ take requests? Yes! We encourage guests to make requests. We want to play music that your guests want to dance to. We also provide you with a list of our music inventory in advance so you can select songs, or artists that you consider "must-play" or "don't play" at your event.
Q. Can our DJ play something special that we provide? Our music collection is very, very large, and chances are we will have most everything you want. Also, as long as you give us your request in advance of the event, we will make every effort to obtain your desired music. If, however, you have some special music that is no longer (or never was) commercially available, we will be happy to play it at your event if you provide it for us. (See the next question about cassettes and vinyl)
Q. Can our DJ play vinyl records or cassettes as well as CDs? We can play vinyl, or cassette media, but prefer compact discs. Most music is now available on CD format, so obtaining compact disc recordings of most songs is not a problem. The turntables are not standard equipment carried to each event, so if the turntables are a requirement, please advise in advance and we can bring them to the event. A cassette deck is part of the standard equipment, but is used mostly for recording.
Q. Will our DJ interrupt our event by taking breaks? No. Perfection DJs keeps the party going whenever you want it. Unlike a band, we have no need to break and stop the music. Unless you tell us to stop to accomodate toasts, announcements, games, or other activities during your event where you want silence, we will keep the music going non-stop.
Q. How will our DJ dress? We will dress as formal or as casual as you request. If your event has a theme (for example Christmas, Hawaiian, Halloween, Masquerade, etc), we will dress accordingly and appropriately. For weddings, we traditionally wear black slacks, with a band collar and black vest, but we will wear a tuxedo if requested. Just be sure to let us know in advance what you desire.
Q. Do you take credit cards? Unfortunately at this time we can't accept credit card payments. We are hoping to make arrangements soon to give you this added convenience.
Q. Can you provide us some referrals? You can view some online comments from satisfied clients here. Upon request we can give you the contact information of some of our clients who have graciously given us specific permission to do so (see our Privacy Policy for details on how we respect our clients' personal information).
